Try Hockey For Free

Every September OYHA hosts three Try Hockey For Free  weekends and we need your help! 

This is one of our major recruiting events, and helps OYHA continue to grow and provide hockey to youth in Ozaukee County. 

Sign up to help - equipment fitting, or on ice volunteers are always needed. 

Also help by sharing the event with your neighbors and school connections!

OYHA 2019 - 2020 Volunteer Opportunities

 

OYHA has many volunteer opportunities available for the 2019 - 2020 Season. We ask that you please consider stepping into one of these roles. If you have questions about any role - please contact Caitie Bowers (CWondergem@gmail.com/414-426-8801). OYHA Committee - Treasurer

Time Commitment: 5 - 8 hours per month

Duties:

●      Billing (registration fees, Learn to Play bag rentals, etc.)

●      Collection of fees

●       Coordinate SCRIP Program

●      Coordinate Youth Hockey Financial Statements with bookkeeper

●      Meet with OYHA Committee monthly (2 - 2.5 hours)

●      Evaluation and potential implementation of new registration/financial system

●      Support of other OYHA events - annual fundraiser, Try Hockey Events, etc.

●       May be required to pass background check and Safe Sport Training

 

Learn to Play (6U) On Ice Director

Time Commitment: 20 - 25 hours per month

Duties:

●      Develop curriculum and practice plans for LTP program

●      Organize, mentor, and oversee coaches

●      Provide input for weekly parent communications

●      Lead on ice practice sessions

●      Liaison with other clubs for jamboree and tournament events

●      Assist with LTP equipment fitting

●      Evaluate and recommend potential play up candidates to the Mite program

●      Support Try Hockey Events

●      Must pass background check, SafeSport training, and minimum Level 1 certified coach

 

Learn to Play (6U) Off Ice Director

Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per month

Duties:

●      Write and send weekly parent communications

●      Maintain the master LTP list

●      Organize the LTP at the Milwaukee Admirals Event

●      Jersey distribution

●      Organize the end of year party and gift

●      Facilitate bag rental and return programs

●      Help facilitate jamboree and tournaments for the LTP program

●      Support Try Hockey Events

 

Mite On Ice (8U) Director

Time Commitment: 20 - 25 hours per month

Duties:

●      Run and oversee the Mite evaluation process

●      Develop curriculum and practice plans for Mite program

●      Organize, mentor, and oversee coaches

●      Lead on ice practice sessions

●      Evaluate and recommend moves within the Red, White, and Blue teams

●      Be a liaison to the Red-White-Blue league

●      Support Try Hockey Events

●      Must pass background check, SafeSport training, and minimum Level 1 certified coach

 

Mite Off Ice (8U) Director

Time Commitment: 15 - 20 hours per month

Duties:

●      Assist with the set-up and organization of the evaluation process

●      Provide all necessary information for Red-White-Blue league scheduling

●      Serve as the Red-White-Blue league contact

●      Distribute and collect jerseys

●      Send communications within the Mite program

●      Assist with tournament scheduling for Mite teams

●      Must pass background check and SafeSport training

 

Special Events/Tournament Coordinator

Time Commitment: TBD – New position

·         Evaluate ability to host State Tournament events and make recommendations to the OYHA Committee

·         If feasible, identify potential State Tournament Directors and submit bids for tournaments

·         Evaluate and make recommendations on the feasibility of Spring or Fall tournament for the Co-Ed program that would be similar to the Girls March BreakAway tournament

·         Assist with planning of the Fall Social

·         Plan Try Hockey Events

 

 

We are also always looking for individuals we are willing to volunteer their time, treasure, or talent. If you have a way you feel you could help but doesn’t fit a role above– please let us know. Here are some examples:

·         Update the OYHA Bulletin Board Monthly

·         Web Design

·         Assist with jersey ordering and distribution at the beginning of the season

·         Assist with the ICE Chips program

·         New stick racks and shelving for the equipment lockers have been built by families in the past
